Demostrations in camps, repatriation urged
Beldangi-I, March 31: Human Rights Organization of Bhutan and Bhutan Gorkha National Liberation Front jointly organised public gathering and demonstration here today morning.
They have urged the international communities, core countries for resettling refugees, International Organization for Migration (IOM) and United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR) to operate repatriation and third country resettlement together.
They have submitted memorandum to representatives of UNHCR and IOM and stressed that their six points demands reach concerned countries and agency heads.
The paper has urged for transparancy in procedures for resettlement and asked UNHCR and IOM to make the choice totally 'voluntary'.
The exiled Bhutanese planned to march upto UNHCR and IOM offices at Damak but were not allowed citing likely disturbance for upcomming CA polls in Nepal.
Addressing the gathering of exiled Bhutanese, camp supervisor of Beldangi-I under Refugee Coordination Unit, Harka Rai said that goverment is not against the march of exiled Bhutanese. He suggested that it would be better if such events are organised after the polls.Arjun Pradhan/Bhutan News Service
