Dawa Tshering dies
Thimphu, May 09: The former Foreign Minister, who had played crucial role in eviction of the southern Bhutan, Lyonpo Dawa Tshering, died at the age of 72.
Attacked by haemochromatosis, he died at around 7 on Tuesday evening while undergoing treatment at the National Referral Hospital in Thimphu. He was admitted to the hospital on Monday.
He was one of the longest serving foreign ministers working between 1972 and 1998.
After the dismissal of the age-old cabinet in 1998, he was given the responsibility of Bhutan's resident representatives to the United Nations in New York.
He took part in a few round of bilateral talks with Nepal to sort out the problem of exiled Bhutanese. Bhutan News Service
