Government may support print media

Thimphu, May 17: In response to the appeal by the print media owners, the government has decided to support the print media in the country for their sustainability.

There will be tax holiday, sales tax, duty import exemption and paying for printing the English advertisements translating into Dzongkha.

Tax holiday will be granted for five years, reviewed every year and they will be exempted form duty on import of printing plants and machineries. All government agencies will be told to provide advertisements in Dzongkha as well.

Government will also arrange trainings for journalists working with the print media. Bhutan News Service
