Guterres meets Nepali HM, goes to Goldhap camp
Kathmandu, May 23: United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR) António Guterres held talks with the Nepalese home minister Krishna Prasad Sitaula on Wednesday morning.
It was part of his confidence building with the Nepalese government to receive support on UNHCR's effort to find solution of the crisis.
Nepal's home ministry plays a critical role in allowing the exiled Bhutanese leave Nepal for resettlement since this ministry controls camp administration.
The ministry has a separate department to look after the issue.
After the meeting, Guterres left for his filed visit to Goldhap camp. He will return to Kathmandu in the evening and hold a press conference in Kathmadu.
He will travel to Thimphu on Thursday after completing three-day visit to Nepal.
Guterres is third UNHCR chief to visit exiled Bhutanese after Robert Cooper and Sadako Ogata. Bhutan News Service
