Tala ownership transferred (BRIEF)
Thimphu, July 12: The ownership of the 400 kv Tala Hydroelectric Project Authority (THPA) has been taken over by Bhutan Power Corporation Limited (BPC) from July 1.
On July 9, in a formal handing over ceremony, managing director of THPA, R N Khazanchi and managing director of BPC, Chhewang Rinzin signed the notes of ownership transfer.
THPA includes 400 kv transmission lines and a part of 220kV and also the 400/220 kV sub-station at Malbase, constructed by THPA.
BPC is responsible for transmission and distribution of electrical energy in the country.
The project is worth of Nu. 42 billion, all funded by Indian, of which Nu. 16.8 billion is loan. Nu. 23 billion has been repaid. Bhutan News Service
