Assam-Bhutan railway plans go ahead
Siliguri, November 10: The Northeast Frontier Railway of the Indian government has begun survey in north-east frontiers to connect Assam and Bhutan lowlands with rail links. The survey will be completed in the next three months.
On completion, the proposed routes would serve as important linkages for the Trans-Asian Railway.
The survey for Kokrajhar-Gelephu line is scheduled to be completed by next month while the two other lines connecting Pathsala in Barpeta district with Nanglam and Rangia in Kamrup district with Samdrup Jongkhar will be completed by January next year.
Some 50 per cent of the survey works for the 57.7-km-long track from Kokrajhar to Gelephu as well as for the 51.5-km-long line linking Pathsala to Nanglam have been finished and 35 per cent of the works for the 45.2-km-long line connecting Rangia and Samdrup Jongkhar have been completed.
