Nation Celebrates 52nd Birthday of His Majesty the 4th King (REPRODUCTION)

Thimphu, November 12: As the nation celebrated the 52nd birth day of His Majesty the fourth Druk Gyalpo, people across the kingdom organized cultural programs and functions. In the capital Thimphu, the main celebrations were held in the RBP ground.

Hundreds of people from all walks of life gathered at the RBP ground to celebrate the birthday of His Majesty the fourth Druk Gyalpo.

His Majesty was born on this day in 1955 at the Dechecholing palace. For Bhutan and the Bhutanese people it is an auspicious day. It is an occasion to pay tributes to His Majesty the fourth Druk Gyalpo and reaffirm their loyalty and dedication to the king, country, and the people.

Speaking to the gathering, the Education Minister Lyonpo Thinley Gyamtsho highlighted the socio- economic developments that Bhutan has achieved under the leadership of His Majesty.

Apart from the socio-economic developments, Lyonpo Thinley Gyamtsho said His Majesty has also strengthened the security and sovereignty of the nation by enhancing the kingdom’s foreign relations in particular with India and strengthening the security and the sovereignty of the nation.

On the political developments, Lyonpo Thinley Gyamtsho pointed out that in December last year, His Majesty stepped aside handing over the responsibilities of monarch to His Majesty Jigme Khesar Namgyel Wangchuck.

“A King retiring, that too at the age of 51 years, is unprecedented in the history of the world. His Majesty has brought major political reforms so that we the Bhutanese can manage our own destiny for all times to come. He said it is important for us to live up to His majesty’s expectations by playing an active part in the democratization process.“ said the Education Minister.

The day is also celebrated as the children’s day. As part of the celebrations, students from schools in Thimphu presented a cultural program at the function. (BBS)
