Bhutan consumes highest PC energy (Brief)
Thimphu, January 15: The total energy consumption in Bhutan during the year 2005 was equivalent to 323, 367 tons of oil.
According to Bhutan Energy Data Directory 2005 released by Department of Energy, Bhutan is at the top list of per capita electricity consumption in South Asia amounting to 1,174 kw hour per year.
Of this, 48.7 percent is consumed by residential sector and 25 percent by industrial sector.
Similarly, the national consumption of firewood is around 724,000 tones which accounted for 57.7 percent of the total primary energy supply of the country. Bhutan News Service
