Deadline extended to file applications for postal ballots

Thimphu, February 22: The Election Commission has extended the deadline for acceptance of the postal ballot applications until March 1 and the last date to register for such ballot is set for February 25.

The deadline has been extended with the aim of allowing eligible postal voters, including the freshly admitted teacher trainees, lecturers and students, to register for casting vote by post.

The EC had earlier set February 18 as the deadline to send such applications. There had been many complaints during the upper house elections regarding the time limit given to file applications for postal ballots. Bhutan News Service
