Birtamod, March 21: International Organization of Migration (IOM) has flown 60 exiled Bhutanese to Kathmandu on Friday afternoon as part of sending them to resettlement in third countries.
They are most from Beldangi and Sanischare camps.
The 60 Bhutanese will be kept in IOM exit point in Kathmandu before they are sent through commercial flight to the US.
According to source, another 60 exiled Bhutanese will be flown to Kathmandu tomorrow. They all will halt in Kathmandu for exit. All of them will be resettled in the US.
IOM plans to send at least 2,000 exiled Bhutanese per month to US for resettlement from April. The process has been delayed due to absence of chartered flights.
IOM and UNHCR plan to brief the Nepalese and international press regarding the resettlement process early next week. Earlier, the agencies had denied media to meet the people brought to Kathmandu. Bhutan News Service
