Govt to mobilize army for polls
Phuentsholing, March 22: Government has decided to mobilize Royal Bhutan Army on the National Assembly election day in southern districts owing to increasing security threats.
According to the information given by Dorji Gyalzen, electoral officer of Chukha district, three RBA personnel will be deployed in each of the 40 polling stations in southern part of the district. Other 43 polling stations in upper part of the district will be guarded by personnel of the Royal Bhutan Police.
In Chukha, 440 polling officers have been deployed.
Samtse electoral officer Phub Dorji also informed that security has been tightened to avoid any untoward incidents during the polls day.
