Discussion on draft constitution begins in parliament (Politics)
Thimphu, May 09: Chief Justice Sonam Tobgey, who was the chairman of constitution drafting committee, presented the draft constitution before the parliament for deliberations and adoption.
On the second day of the parliament session on Friday, the members of the parliament began discussion on the drafted constitution before it is endorsed.
The current parliament session is expected to endorse the constitution and few other laws formally transforming country from absolute rule to constitutional.
Fourth King Jigme Singye had formed the drafting committee under the chairmanship of Tobgey through an order November 2001. The draft was completed in March 2005 and since then, two amendments have been made.
The government had taken the support of few Indian legal experts in drafting the constitution. Bhutan News Service
