King Khesar addresses first parliament session (Politics)
Thimphu, May 09: Addressing the first joint sitting of the National Assembly and National Council session Thursday, the King Jigme Khesar Namgyal Wangchuk told parliamentarians to pledge to Bhutanese showing strong commitment for democracy and nation building.
He said, “It is my prayer that we will all be united in our efforts to build a stronger nation so that, at the end of our lives, when we hand over our country, our children will inherit a stronger nation where all obstacles to their happiness and prosperity."
Democracy is another important step towards strengthening Bhutan, he said commanding parliamentarians to bear the duty and start building a strong democracy.
The parliament session which begun at 8 am, ended at 1 pm. Bhutan News Service
