Threat on pro-resettlement family continues
Beldangi/Kathmandu, June 22: An unidentified group of people pelted stones targeting the hut belonging to Hari Kafley in Belndagi-I, Sector C/2-126 at mid-night on Friday.
Krishna Maya, wife of Hari informed the BNS over telephone that a number of stones were thrown at her hut continuously for about 15 minutes from unidentified location during the mid-night. She also informed that the group fled from the scene when she shouted aloud quite repeteadly.
“My small children are really scared from this incident. I hardly convinced them that nothing would go wrong as we hadn’t done anything to anyone”, said Krishna Maya, adding that there was urgent need on the part of Armed Police Force (APF) to patrol inside the camps and in areas where such threats exists.
Hari, who stays in Kathmadnu for the purpose of his higher studies, said that a sense of ‘insecurity’ has crippled the normal life of his family members inside camps. “All these incidents occurred simply because my family had wished to opt for the option of third country resettlement”, said Kafle, urging the UNHCR and government of Nepal for the management of his family’s security inside camps.
Earlier on June 11, an unidentified gang of youths had attempted for physical attack on family members of Hari during the night at around 11 pm local time citing the latter opted for the option of third country resettlement.
Hari further informed the BNS that he had already filed an application to the protection officer at the Kathmandu-based office of the UNHCR urging for his family’s security soon after the first incident took place.
Police has not yet booked the perpetrators involved in both the incidents. Bhutan News Service
