UNICEF recommends reservation for disable persons (Nation)
Thimphu, October 21: A UN agency has recommended for reserved seats for over 3.4 percent disabled population in the country in the government services.
The government service only has two disabled so far and the Royal Civil Service Commission rejects the idea of reservation for the disables.
The government has not made any special arrangement for education to disables and social practice exclude them from educational and other personality building opportunities. Under, such circumstances, RCSC stresses on the need for competition among able and disable population for job positions.
The elected leaders even take disability as burden to society. There were attempts within Thimphu from senior leaders to remove the signboards of schools for disables from the area to ‘boost the image of the locality’. Bhutan News Service
