Expenses for coronation celebration is likely to cost dear (Economy)
Thimphu, October 23: Despite PM Jigmi Thinley claimed King Jigme Khesar wants his coronation celebrations be simple and less expensive, the functions are unlikely to be such as festivities have already begun in massive two weeks before the day.
Dzongkhag administrations across the country have asked the people to participate in the celebrations and as rehearsals begin, expenditures are being maintained by the district administration. Schools are also told to do what they can.
Lhakhangs and monasteries begin to see lavish decorations, preparing for large scale prayers and offerings by the gelongs and monks.
Private sector is also engaging itself with varied celebrations while shoppers are doing good businesses of khadas bearing the centenary logo.
Flags, banners, and portraits spurred up in the capital and is expected that it will be lit up with color and digital screens during the main events. The celebration committee already hinted at lavish and luxurious event calendar of 42 days, until December 17.
Project coordinator and promotions director, Tenzin Rigden also has admitted that lavish investments made for ground management, especially in lighting and sound system on a stage where concerts are to be held.
The government has already announced free vehicular services from districts to capital Thimphu for all those willing to participate in the celebrations. Bhutan News Service
