As coronation event closes in, praises are high on monarchy (City)
Thimphu, November 03: On the eve of coronation of the fifth monarch, debuts to monarchy come in flow in Bhutan that also marks the 100 years rule of Wangchuk dynasty.
The Royal Monetary Authority (RMA) will bring into use new currency note of Nu 1000 and Nu 50 denominations from today. The new notes have portrait of new king, who will formally receive the authority of kingship on November 6.
About 20 million notes of denomination 50 and 1000 have been printed.
The new notes were designed by Karma Ura and Sonam Phuntsho of Centre for Bhutan Studies
Similarly, a pictorial book entitled “A King of Destiny” published by Rabsel Media services has reached the market on October 29, which the publisher said is a a tribute to Fourth King Jigme Singye Wangchuck.
The book covers the life and reign of the king from birth to his abdication of the throne in 2006 besides excerpts of his speeches and interviews.
Other 19 books on monarchy are in pipeline to market with the state funding for their publications. On the same day, other eight books on monarchy have entered the market.
The National Museum in Paro has been rebuilt with Indian aid of Nu 24.5 million as part of the centenary celebration of the monarchy.
In the mean time, the government has tightened the security veil in Thimphu and around the Chamlimithang ground where public functions are scheduled for November 6 and 7 after the king formally step on to the throne. Bhtan News Service
