Plants being cut in the camps (In Exile)
Jhapa, November 18: The plants inside the camps, especially in Beldangis, are being cut by those who are on their way to take off shortly for resettlement.
Except sisoo, which were distributed by local forest office, the exiled Bhutanese cut most of the other plants grown in surrounding mercilessly saying there won’t be anyone to use them after the resettlement.
There have been no monitoring to stop cutting down the plants and few exiled Bhutanese fear the area would be cleared once resettlement completes.
There are thousands of plant varieties in these camps and it could form a centre of botanical studies once human settlements are evacuated from the area. Bhutan News Service
