Vocational trainees get to job

Thimphu, July 7: Some students from thirty-nine vocational training institutes located in Buna, Trashigang, have been given job soon completed their course on June 28. The duration of the course is two years.

Fifteen students joined the Bhutan Telecom, 10 each joined the Bhutan Power Corporation and the Tala Hydro Power Authority and five in civil service.
 
However, another 18 pass outs are yet to get employed.
 
Pasang Dorji of the department of employment's assistant human resource center had reached the institute for recruitment as per the requisition received by the departments.
 
“We are skilled personnel and as long as we want to work I guess we don't have any dearth of jobs,” said Lal Dhoj Ghalley, who stood third in the group. “We don't mind taking up any job as long as we are paid well,” he added.
 
 “Two years have made us as competent as our men counterparts,” said Dema Yangzom, 22. “We know work in the field will be challenging since it will mostly be manual.”

Khina Maya, 20, added that their parents were now proud of them.
 
The principal of the institute, Bhoj Bahadur Chhetri, said the third batch students have proved themselves committed to face competitive challenges in the labour market.

The institute was established in 2003 has so far sent off 163 skilled people into the job market. Bhutan News Serive/Sangey Ondrey
