RRCC hails Ellen’s announcement of resettlement
Kathmandu, October 20: The Refugee Rights Coordinating Committee (RRCC) has formally welcomed the US offer to allow up to 60,000 refugees in America.
In a press release, the RRCC has said it welcomes Ellen Sauerbrey, the Assistant Secretary of State for Population, Refugees, and Migration for her comprehensible concept to resettle some 60 thousands Bhutanese refugees in the US. It has further said that her opinion, which appeared in The Kathmandu Post on October 19, 2006, has clearly addressed the needs of humanitarian help for the exiled Bhutanese.
Meanwhile, the RRCC further said sixteen years that have passed in bamboo huts in refugee camps is indeed a long period of time for the oppressed people and is equally tormenting by frustration.
The release signed by its Chief Coordinator N.B.Giri and Central Executive member Setu Nepal has also accused Teknath Rizal and few other leaders of misleading the present situation. Bhutan News Service/TP Mishra
