Bhutan-Nepal talks postponed
Kathmandu, November 16: The foreign ministerial level meeting between Bhutan and Nepal scheduled for next week to finalise the issue of Bhutanese in exiled has been postponed indefinitely.
Talking to journalists on Thursday at the Foreign Ministry after his meeting with the three-member EU Troika team, Nepalese Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Foreign Affairs K. P. Oli said that the meeting has been postponed till December. However, he said the venue and dates for the meeting have not been finalised yet. The meeting was scheduled for Nov 21-22.
DPM Oli said that the meeting has been postponed owing to Nepal's current political scenario.
Earlier, a foreign ministerial meeting scheduled to be held in Kathmandu was also cancelled.
On arrival, American assistant minister Boucher had said he also talked with Bhutanese government regarding the issue and that his country has already decided to take at least 60,000 of the 107,000 exiled Bhutanese. Boucher had met Oli on Wednesday. Bhutan News Service
