Three Bhutanese nationals and fake ‘father’ held
Dolakha,Jan 21: Three Bhutanese nationals – Kumar Shivakoti, 21, Subash Shivakoti, 24, and Laxman Shivakoti, 26 and Bala Ram
Shivakoti of Sundrawati-8 of the district have been arrested and
are being interrogated for presenting fake documents to obtain
Nepali citizenship.
The three Bhutanese youths had applied for citizenship while local Bala Ram Shivakoti had submitted fake documents claiming they were his sons. VDC secretary Jagat Bahadur Shivakoti had recommended their citizenship application on the basis of Bala Ram's claim. Kumar and Subash have admitted that they have been staying in Timai refugee camp for the last 17 years while Laxman is from Beldangi refugee camp in eastern Nepal. They have been teaching in Dolakha district for some years.
They were arrested on a complaint filed against them, according to chief district officer Uddhav Kumar Thapa. "They have been verified as Bhutanese nationals and we are proceeding with necessary action against them," Thapa said. Bhutan News Service
