Three died from poisonous mushroom consumption

Dharan, June 16, 2009: Three exiled Bhutanese have died and seven others have fallen critically ill due to the consumption of poisonous mushroom in Ilam, eastern Nepal.

Identified as Tul Bahadur Tamang, Phurba Tamang and Man Maya Tamang, residents of Bhutanese refugee camp, Timai in Jhapa died while undergoing treatment at BP Koirala Institute of Health Sciences, Dharan.

According to reports, they had consumed mushroom brought from forest last Wednesday.

Seven others have fallen critically ill in the same incident. They are being treated in Birtamod, Jhapa and Dharan. All of them were involved in the construction of Karfok Bidyamandir School’s building in Panchakanya area of the district.
