Statue looted from Bumthang
Gelehu, February 05: A seven-inch long statue of Shabdurng Ngawang Namgyal has been looted from a Chorten in Bumthang recently. The cost of the statue is estimated to be around Nu 600,000.
The officials from the Culture Department of the district visited the site shortly after the looting report and taken snaps of the situation. They also collected other valuables fromt the Chorten to be kept at secure place.
This is the first case of Chorten looted in Bumthang this year. The same chorten was looted four years ago as well. Bhutan News Service
