Phuentsholing, October 24: As the day for coronation celebrations in Thimphu comes nearer, the government has tightened the security situation in southern districts.

According to local villagers in Sarpang, Chukha and Samtse districts, the local authority has instructed them not to move from one place to another.

Security personnel have been deployed in major town areas and movement of people are closely watched. Due to heavy presence of security personnel, locals fear even to reach the nearest market for shopping. Many spend their days within the house compound.

The government had tightened the security in Thimphu since last month and now it has been expanded to all six southern districts. Bhutan News Service
