Thimphu, November 6: Junior Jigme, Jigme Khesar Namgyel Wangchuck has formally become the youngest king in the world from today.

28-year-old Khesar was crowned this morning as head of state with grand celebrations throughout the kingdom that recently adopted so-called written constitutions.

The public functions are scheduled to start from 2 pm onwards.

A couple of days back, the Royal Monetary Authority released new Nu. 1,000 and Nu. 50 currency notes to mark the coronation of the junior Jigme. Bhutan News Service
