Thimphu, July 28: Bhutan and India are all set to sign an agreement on 1095 MW Punatsangchhu-1 hydropower plant on Saturday.

The Indian minister for External Affairs, Pranab Mukherjee and Prime Minister Khandu Wangchuk will sign the agreement at the Gyalyong Tshokhang.

Mukherjee reached Thimphu on Friday to sign the pact.

The Indian minister is also scheduled to visit India assisted projects in Bhutan including National Referral Hospital in Thimphu and the Semtokha dzong renovation project.

Mukherjee will meet King Jigme Khesar on Saturday to discuss bilateral matters.

In the mean time, Nation Front for Democracy (NFD) has sought assistance from Mukherjee to lobby the Bhutanese government for repatriation of the exiled Bhutanese.

In a statement on Friday, NFD said India’s effort would be effective to find solution of the protracted crisis. Bhutan News Service
