Amritsar, October 26: The Bhutanese delegates consisting of 40 exiled Bhutanese led by Mohan Tamang  participated in South Asain People's Conclave in Amritsar, Punjab yesterday. The event lasts until today.

The event is being organized by Punnarjyot, an offshoot of Spring Dale Educational Society in coordination with Indian Social Institute, Action Aid and Imagine New South Asia.

The Bhutanese delegates consist of exiled leaders including Balaram Poudel, S. B. Subba, D. P. kafley, camp secretaries, media persons, women representatives and artists.

Presenting a paper during the inaugural ceremony, Radha Adhikari from Khudunabari camp highlighted the issues of Bhutanese women and children in camps. The paper stressed that majority of women were metally depressed due to unemployment and long-stay in camps.

The event aims to create open border in south-Asian countries. It also discusses issues of minority, refugees and human rights in the region. Around 275 delegates from all over South Asia are participating in the event. Bhutan News Service/Vidhyapati Mishra
